Letter 2

Good morning Karyn,
Thanks for reaching out and also, for your warm compliments, Very much appreciated! You have a contagious and captivating smile too! I keep asking myself why you are still single. Both the style and content of your profile speak volumes (both literally and figuratively). I think that we have many very important qualities and interests in common and would like to learn more about you. I enjoy connecting with like minds. And I think I may have found a wonderful friend, at the very least. I really miss my parents very much, especially my mom because she and I were very close and was my mentor as well. They passed in the early 90's.

More about me.... I am very grounded in who I am, not to say that I don’t get unsettled at times of change and growth, and I am looking to connect with someone who is also grounded and happy with who they are. I like the word “express” and use it in many different aspects of my life. Yes, I very much like to express my inner self to my outside world, I feel whole and complete with myself when I do which is also the way I show my authentic self to others. I am optimistic, creative, loving, kind, romantic, considerate, respectful, and adventurous. I am passionate and have never thought that public display of affection was something to be named; it is just a part of who I am. I say that because I have noticed people talking about “PDA” lately and it is interesting to me the energy they have around this very natural way to be with someone you are in a loving relationship with. My family is not from Chicago. Actually, my work compelled me to relocate here about 4 years ago from Cos Cob, Connecticut. However, I have no ties to this area so I'm willing to relocate for the right person.

I was drawn to this site because I wanted to see what it was about. Most of my friends are married and I do not go to bars or the places where singles might gather like that. It has been a great tool to use to force myself to write about me. It has been very good in that way. I guess I have been using it as a way to open myself to a new experience, whatever that might look like. I have not been on it very long. How about you? What is your experience with eharmony.com and what compelled you to join? How long have you been single?

I have been an independent Interior Designer/Architect and freelancer for over 25 years now and I truly enjoy every bit of what I do. The most interesting part of it is that I get to design the interior of children hospitals, very creative, very rewarding, and very fulfilling. I like everything in my career from the initial visioning sessions with the client to the contract documents and detailing of the project. I guess the best part is the client relationship being developed.

What would you like to tell me about you? I would very much like to hear more. You can also ask me anything, as I am very open. I am looking forward to hearing from you and have a wonderful day.
James

Hello Karyn,
Thanks for wonderful email. It really feels refreshing to start such a beautiful afternoon by reading an articulate and lovely email from a lovely woman. I enjoy how you communicate and I am happy you have emailed me again. I must say I really appreciated what you wrote about your background, past relationship and qualities you possess, very impressive and interesting! I am very interested in learning more about you and yes I want to be your friend and hopefully, more than that later.

Well, its my turn so here I go again.... I was married for 10 years and divorced about 4 years ago. I dated someone shortly for a couple of years. I couldn't have any kids from my marriage because my ex had ovarian cancer. I love children and relate to them as a big kid but it is so unfortunate that I couldn't have any on my own. I think it is too late to have children at this point in life so I just wanna live and enjoy it to the fullest with my partner. Did you choose not to have children Karyn? As for Eharmony, I haven't been with this service for s long time. Someone actually talked me to doing this. I was apprehensive at first but three caution to the wind. This is my 2nd week here and I am so glad and pleased to meet you. I am active and fit, I sometimes work with a trainer about 5 days a week, my aerobics goes up and down depending on my schedule. I am healthy, but always working at improving, sometimes just maintaining. It is a lifestyle for me to be active in order to do all the things I want to purse in life, and I like finding my exercise in just doing whatever is available. As for traveling.... France was my very first international destination (not counting Mexico). A work related project took me there for 3 unforgettable weeks. I was based in Cannes, but spent a weekend in Paris(romantic city) and another in Calais. Greece-another incredible part of the world. I had a few days to explore Athens, the cruised the Greek Isles, ending up in Istanbul. The ancient city of Ephesus, Turkey was truly fascinating to me. I've been to Austria, Germany, Switzerland(many times), Spain(frequently when in the UK), Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Caribbean Isles, Hong Kong and mainland China, Australia, and many parts of the U.S. and Mexico. I enjoy travel and the discovery of the wonders of this amazing planet we live on. These just some of what inspires me and makes me happy. There's nothing better and fun than traveling with someone you love. Paris and Italy are my favorite places or spots. I love them for so many reasons. Some of them are its architecture, ambiance, culture, foods, history, tourist attractions, scenery and so many others. What are your interests, passions and where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I think I'll stop rambling and wait for your turn. I would like to talk some more with you, meet and see where it goes. You sound like a wonderful person and I would love to learn more about you. You can reach me directly at jaychaps22@gmail.com. I hope to connect with you soon and have a very great day.

Hi Karyn,
I just woke up feeling a bit exhausted after yesterday's eventful and busy day. You are very good writer and i must admit that my heart beat very fast when I saw your email in my inbox. Still grinning from ear to ear! I am getting ready to get my day started so I thought I would sift through emails while I drink a cup of coffee. You seem like someone who enjoys traveling and I am now more intrigued about you. I'm enjoy writing to you right now and spending time thinking about something about myself that you don't know yet. You seem like an active person and someone who loves traveling and adventure which I find fascinating. That also describes and defines me too. I think life is too short to be miserable so I try to find adventure in my everyday life. I'm interested in exploring the possibilities with you because we seem to have a connection and also we do have so many commonalities. Sarasota happens to be one of my favorite places in Florida. It's such a very lovely quaint town with some nice architecture, beaches, weather and people. I've always wanted to retire somewhere warm and Florida has always been my number one pick. Coincidence or fate?

Basically, I'm a strong team player, but also a natural leader. I love finding the 'win-win' in any situation. I don't like conflict, or even heated discussions. I'm a true believer in 'agree to disagree' and always look for the common ground. I consider myself a happy and content person. I love to laugh and spend as much time as humanly possible enjoying the lighter side of most situations. It's the day-to-day stuff that usually brings the most humor, don't you think? I've been blessed to have done some traveling, and it is one of my most favorite pass-times -- visiting somewhere I've never been and getting to know the local culture, people and history-- and it can be a day trip, or a trip to another state, or to another country. Weekends are very lazy days for me and I don't spend the day according to a schedule. I normally drink coffee in the morning, workout, play piano and do whatever comes to mind. Some other things that comes to mind are hanging with friends, going on short road trips, going to the beach and many others. My favorites include blue, aqua, pink, purple, green and burgundy. My favorite foods include Italian, seafood, Chinese, Thai and Mexican dishes. Cooking is something I love doing but its unfortunate I don't cook much because I hate to cook for myself. I wish I had someone to cook for. What are your favorites and what do you enjoy cooking most?

I come from a very small family which consists of my parents, me and my younger brother. My parents died in the 90's, my mom of cancer in 1995 and my dad in 1990 of a heart attack. I still miss them because they both played very influential and pivotal roles in my life. I am not bothered at all about you talking about your late husband. You can always feel free to talk about him and share things with me because I know you important he was to you. Certain people we lose in our lives can never be replaced. My only brother is 3 years younger than me and lives in Pennsylvania. He is the father of my only niece and nephew. The twins currently reside in Italy with their mom where their play professional soccer and school. My mom was South African and my dad was an American with an Irish heritage. I was actually born and bred in South Africa but spent almost 8 years my life in Kenya because we relocated right after my mom opened a new branch of her business there and I've been living in the States since 1990. I have extended family members from both sides and my dad's side are scattered all over the US. Do you like men who speak with accents? Who pays on a first date? Well, as a gentleman, I am gonna pay on a first and subsequent dates. I have always been the man of the house in my previous relationships so taking care of my partner is nothing new to me. I've always been against sharing bills to pay on a first date.

I pray that the person I spend the remainder of life with, is on my chosen road. I hope to be living the happiest moments of my life with someone who feels the same for me. I want to travel more... go places ... fulfill my dreams.... start up a jewelry business and do everything I can to help her fulfill her dreams. Ya know, there once was a time when I felt the path I was on, was one which was least traveled. It saddens me to have seen the number of divorces, children living one week with one parent and the next with the other. It seems we've grown impatient and less tolerant of minor issues ... so we toss in the towel, instead of trying to work things out, we give up, before we ever get started ... anyway ... not sure how all that fell into my 5-yr plan, but I guess I'll leave it, for whatever it might be worth.

Tell me about your family and background. I'm interested in meeting too so why don't we talk more and figure it out? I will send you some photos and quirky bits about me. That way you can have more fun getting to know me better. My phone number is 203-433-2246 if you would like to talk on the phone or text. Have a very productive day and I am sending you lots of smiles and sunshine from Chicago.

Letter 5

Hello Karyn,
I am sorry we haven't been able to connect much since yesterday. It was really one hell of a long and crazy day for me but I am happy a new day is here. Thanks for your warm and sweet compliments. You make me smile a lot with your kind and warm words. I so enjoyed the photos you sent, very beautiful. Gidget is such a cute dog. How old is she? You seem to have a traditional taste when it comes to decoration, quite impressive! Did you design it on your own? Tell me a bit about your home. I will also send you some pictures of mine.
Anyway, Music happens to be one if my greatest passions. I've been playing the piano since 11. I always wanted to become a professional pianist but I came to discover my other talents which compelled me to do what I do today. I have a grand piano here in my house and it would be a honor to play for you. What do you have planned for today? I have to get on a call at 9 am, go into consultation with clients, visit a clients site and run a couple of errands. Sounds like another packed day but I won't be too busy for you so you can drop me a text or email whenever you have the chance and I will gladly respond. Have a great day Karyn and I will be thinking of you, xoxoxo
Yours,
James
