Romance scam letter(s) from Timothy Coffey to Susan (South Africa)
Letter 1

Morning Susan, This is Dave from the dating site, thanks for sending your email address across, I apologize for the delayed response, I've been pretty swamped lately, it's so hard to keep tabs of my mail on the dating site, I was just sending a quick mail when I saw a notification email from the dating site that I have a mail from you, I'm having a bit of a quiet morning thought I'd take a moment to acknowledge your mail and share a little more about myself. I couldn't help but notice that the profile on the dating site is pretty vague and can't really tell all there is about someone, thought I should use this medium to share a little more about myself... I live in Waterkloof area of Pretoria, I'm divorced, have been for almost 8 years now, blessed with two lovely daughters from my marriage, they are both 19 and 22 respectively. I'm a consultant contractor, owning my own business, I work independently as an Engineer but also as a supply chain intermediary between production companies and consumers. People around my close circle consider me to be a honest fellow. I have been fortunate enough to have the ability to travel extensively for pleasure and work. Though there are definitely advantages to traveling solo, I prefer to travel with friends or my significant other. I also enjoyed being married and look forward to having the opportunity to be married again. I am an adventurous, intelligent, hard working person who tries to keep an open mind - whether it involves a new idea or a new cuisine. I try to live life to the fullest and believe that you always can make time for something that's important to you. I believe my ideal partner is someone who is compatible with my personality and interests. Thus, I am seeking a woman who is adventurous, intelligent, has a sense of humor, is independent yet can compromise and is self confident, you seem to fit that criteria. I have not been in a relationship for long now because, I don’t enjoy the one-night stand thing, when you quickly jump into a relationship believe me, you will also quickly jump out and I don't need that kind of thing in my life right now. I want a relationship that can lead to something great. I'd like for you to share a little more about yourself, I could make out from your profile that you're divorced too. How long have you been single? When did you join the dating site? Are you seeing anyone right now? (I mean from the dating site). Anything you can share that'll shed more light on your person would be most welcomed. Have a lovely day, I'll be looking out for your response. Warm regards,
Dave.
Letter 2

Hi Susan, How are you doing today? I hope you're having a great weekend. I'm in receipt of your mail with the contents well understood and appreciated, thanks for the warm words about my girls, they are indeed precious and hold a big place in my heart. I'm sorry to hear about your girl's husband, to lose a loved one so young...it must have been tough. First, I want to say thank you for taking your time to write me and being very open with me as well, I really enjoyed reading your mail and getting to know you a lot better, I think as a basic foundation that it's very important that we be open to one another. You strike me as an amazing woman, and I like you even without trying to ... I have a strong feeling that you and I will get along very well. I'm sure we can make a plan to meet soon as the days go by...? I thought I’d share this with you and know what you think. I understand that there are many different ways to partner, and I try not to judge other people’s choices, but for me, I would like to find an equal partner, someone who contributes as much as I do to a relationship. This doesn’t have to be about money, but in totally, the work, effort and total contribution we bring. I have expectations for myself, and in the past I’ve found it difficult to find someone who had similarly high expectations for themselves.

It seems like so many people want to do ‘just enough’ to get by, but I want more than that. As a basic foundation I think there should be respect for each others freedom (though to make a partnership work, I believe that we have to freely choose to take our partner and our family into consideration when we make choices), honesty and openness, I believe that honesty, even if we don’t want to hear what someone has to say, is always more kind in the long run. I think it’s especially important for partners to be able to trust each other, without that, it just seems like everything falls apart. I also think it’s important to be able to express your needs and wants to each other. And make decisions together about how to meet them. I believe it’s important to be kind to each other, to not be callous with each others hearts. To have compassion and empathy for each other and be willing to really listen to what your partner has to say. I want to support my partner in achieving her dreams, and feel supported by them in accomplishing mine. I want to work together with my partner to make decisions as a family, and share our power, well.... I have not felt the love of a woman for a long time now and I really miss it, to be sincere, I'm scared but just want to be bold, I'm a one man to one woman relationship type and when I love, I love real hard, I listen to my partner and understand a lot.. .Some day I hope to help people make healthier, more loving decisions with their lives, perhaps as a kind of counselor.

This will be all for now and thanks for reading, hope that you find nothing offensive in what I wrote, if there is anything else you would like to know, please do not hold back to ask. I also need you to know that you are the only one I'm corresponding with from the dating site and I wish to stay that way.

Cheers and a big hug from me to you. Maybe we can also chat on the phone sometime and make a plan to meet when we are both less busy? Enjoy the rest of your evening and I hope this finds you good spirits. Warm regards,
Dave.
